Before discussing why and how to schedule, it is important to review the primary objectives

of project management to ensure the schedule will meet those objectives. The best

schedule is not the schedule showing the project completed in the shortest time period; it

is the schedule that meets the primary objectives of the total project. Those primary objectives
are to create a quality project, completed on time, within budget, and in a safe work
environment. All four of these objectives must be considered in planning and scheduling a
project.
