The Practice of Project Management a Guide to the Business-Focused Approach

Content:
  • The Essential Building Blocks
  • Focusing Projects on the Business
  • Objective Directed Project Management (ODPM)

We have always had a dream to write a book that reflected our understanding of, and personal views on, project management. Over the years, we have always believed there was a need for a book that was based on practice, linked to the business of organizations, and underpinned by a process. We believe this book is unique in that it not only provides the building blocks of project management, but also links them through a detailed process based on the concepts of managing by strategic, business and project results and objectives – Business Focused Project Management (BFPM™) and Objective Directed Project Management (ODPM™). We firmly believe that project management needs to demonstrate that it adds value at the top end of an organization. Projects must contribute to the organization’s bottom line or to service delivery, and this must be clearly demonstrated and communicated to upper management and important stakeholders. We believe that this book contributes to the knowledge and understanding of this important direction in which project management is heading.
