 Attributes of a Proactive Maintenance Technician

 

 

Want to step up your Maintenance Organization. Let's start change by having a discussion with your technicians about the Attributes of a Proactive Maintenance Technician. If they do not agree with this post, ask them to sit for the CMRT (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Exam) and pass this certification and then let's talk. Just trying to be honest you everyone.

1. Cares about equipment reliability and seeks to improve it all the time.     
2. Follows repeatable procedures and ensures all specifications are met.     
3. Recommends changes to a procedures when new information presents itself, ie. Equipment not functioning to the functional requirements of the end user.     
4. Is trained and knows how to restore/maintain equipment to specifications in their area of responsibility.     
5. Never walks by a problem without notifying management.     
6. Understands the leading and lagging metrics required of their position.     
7. Establishes a goal of becoming a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT) from the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP).     
8. Always strives to be best they can no matter the situation (positive attitude always)     
9. Works well with production, management, and their team mates.     
10. Always having a positive attitude
