Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Requirements |
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling requires many things in order to ensure success.
The objective of Maintenance Planning and Scheduling is to:
> Minimize downtime (reactive and proactive)
> Increase Maintenance Wrench-time (hands on tool time)
> Optimize reliability and capacity
Planning and Scheduling effectiveness requires:
1. A well defined Maintenance Planning and Scheduling workflow process
2. Discipline in following the Planning and Scheduling Process
(discipline: the ability to follow instructions or process)
3. Roles and Responsibilities defined with all parties (maintenance, production, purchasing, stores, etc.)
4. Measure with Leading and Lagging KPIs
"Leading KPIs lead to Results" "Lagging KPIs are the Results"
Example:
Definitions:
> Planning: the process of creating an executable job plan which minimizing delays in work execution and restoration of assets to production to specification
> Scheduling: the process of scheduling maintenance activities by day / by hour which minimizing equipment downtime and optimizing equipment reliability.
Warning:
The Maintenance Planning and Scheduling process requires discipline to follow in order to meet the expectation of the end user: "Production/Operations"
