Work Break Down Structure Template in Excel - Free Download
A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is a decomposition of all the work necessary to complete a project. A WBS is arranged in a hierarchy and constructed to allow for clear and logical groupings by activities.
The WBS represents the work identified in the approved Project Scope Statement from the Project Charter and serves as an early foundation for effective schedule development and cost estimating. A WBS is developed as a precursor to a detailed project schedule.
Level 1: The project name or name of a project phase. If there are multiple phases, then a WBS Excel Workbook must be developed for each phase of the project.
Level 2: Level 2 items are the names of all project deliverables/outcomes that are expected to be required as part of the project charter.
Level 3: Level 3 items and below are key tasks required to produce the Level 2 deliverables/outcomes.
Add more levels depending upon the magnitude of the deliverables and the level of detail required to reliably estimate cost and schedule.
